Charnwood’s commitment to families and children is based on the Christian belief in the value of every individual.
Principles
• Every child is unique and should be recognised as being of equal worth.
•
Every child has physical, emotional, intellectual, linguistic, social and spiritual needs. These should be developed, respecting the child’s race, culture and background.
•
Modern society creates special pressures on parents. Parents need support and parenting needs to be positively valued and promoted.
Objectives
Charnwood seeks, through the provision of an opportunity group / inclusive nursery, to:
•
Support children within the home by supporting parents/carers.
• Develop the full potential of each and every child attending the nursery by providing a centre of excellence that delivers nursery education of the highest quality.
• Create an inclusive environment with a balance of children with special needs.
• To support all parents and carers and provide information about appropriate services to parents/carers of children with special needs.
• Contribute to the promotion of high quality education in the community, by offering training opportunities for students, from a variety of institutions, and by providing Special Needs training for nurseries and schools in the Borough.
