Links with Central Asia
In recent years, our outreach work has extended to Central Asia. The current Principal has made two visits to Kazakhstan, helping Equip Trust to set up an inclusive nursery, in Shymkent, based on the Charnwood model, and to facilitate training for the workers. We provide ongoing support and training for this project and one of their teachers has attended a course at Charnwood to develop her knowledge of working with children with special needs.
We have also provided, in partnership with Stockport College, a year’s training for a teacher from Tajikistan to enable her to set up a similar project in her home country. Naomi and her husband, Daniel have now returned to Khujard in the North of Tajikistan to begin the work and to train others in childcare skills.
We aim to continue to support these two initiatives in a variety of ways, and will be holding a sponsored bounce to raise funds.
