Parents
We recognise the importance of working in partnership with
parents/carers and seek to involve them positively in the work of the
nursery. From time to time, parents come in to share particular skills
or interests with the children e.g. to play an instrument; bring in a
new baby, share information about a festival they are celebrating.
Staff
are always available to receive and exchange information with
parents/carers on a daily basis, when the children are being dropped
off or collected. Children with Special Educational Needs usually have
a Home/School diary to facilitate the exchange of information when
children are brought in by taxi. In addition, we hold Parents’
Evenings each term to discuss children’s progress. Appointments
can also be made to have a longer discussion with a member of staff
should the need arise at any time. The Family Worker is available to
all parents to discuss any matters of general concern (e.g. Behaviour
management, potty training, sleep). Parenting courses are also run on a
regular basis.
The nursery’s Operational Plan, including policy documents, is available in the Toy Library for parents to consult.
Children’s Records
Throughout each child’s time in the nursery, we build up a record
of work samples and photographs in a Record of Achievement book. This
is given to the parents/carers when the child moves on to school.
